Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/IMC position requiring ICU or PEDS experience and ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

  • Acute care Stepdown/IMC unit within a 20-bed department (MS/ICU/IMC)
  • Nurse:patient ratios of 1:4 on IMC, with MS at 1:5 days/1:6 nights and ICU 1:2
  • Diverse adult patient population including cardiac, pulmonary, neuro, GI, GU, ortho, sepsis, and outpatient infusion cases
  • Occasional stable pediatric patients for respiratory illness, postop appy, or dehydration requiring IV hydration
  • RNs required to titrate drips such as Heparin, insulin, amiodarone, cardizem, PCA fentanyl, Propofol, and Norepi
  • Telemetry monitored remotely by techs in Weston, but RNs must be able to read rhythm strips
  • Works with RT equipment including CPAP, BIPAP, Vapotherm, Servo U, and Hamilton ventilators, with RT support 24/7
  • Charge Nurses take a patient assignment; House Supervisors do not
  • CNA support available on most shifts
  • Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
  • Straight night shift, 1900-0700, 12-hour shifts
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • On-call rotation during low census periods
  • Floating required in-house to ED, UC, and PACU, and interfacility to Park Falls and Weston

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent relevant experience required
  • ICU or PEDS experience preferred
  • BSN not required for this position

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to a diverse stepdown/IMC patient population including cardiac, pulmonary, neuro, GI, GU, and ortho cases
  • Titrate and manage high-acuity IV drips as part of daily responsibilities
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythm strips despite remote monitoring by tele techs in Weston
  • Collaborate with RT staff for ventilator and respiratory support management
  • 1-day computer-based hospital orientation followed by 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation
  • Navy scrubs required for RNs; Ceil Blue scrubs for CNAs
  • Block scheduling offered when possible
  • All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
  • Candidates who previously worked for the facility must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
  • Local candidates accepted within 80 miles of the facility, though travel pay rate is reduced for this radius
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
