BHS Workforce is seeking a travel nurse RN Stepdown for a travel nursing job in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Pay: $2,272/wk

Shift: 12H Day/Night Rotate

Schedule: 3x12s

Start: 8/5

Contract: 13 weeks

Guaranteed: 36 hrs/wk

 

Unit Overview

  • 22‑bed CVSD/Stepdown unit
  • Ratios: 1:4–6
  • Charting: Allscripts
  • Scrubs: Navy blue
  • Float: Travelers float first
  • Orientation: 12‑hour unit orientation with preceptor

Patient Population

  • Bradycardia, A‑fib, SVT
  • CHF, CAD, NSTEMI, PVD
  • PE, CVA/TIA
  • Post‑op VATS, lobectomy, wedge resection
  • Chest tubes, tracheotomy (no vents)
  • TAVR
  • Post‑op day 1 CABG (after ICU day 0)

Clinical Requirements

  • 2+ years recent Stepdown/PCU experience
  • Epicardial pacing & chest tube experience required
  • Drip titration: cardizem, amiodarone, procainamide, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin (rare)
  • Monitor techs handle strip interpretation (Nihon Koden monitors)

Support & Staffing

  • Charge nurse takes full patient assignment
  • Nursing supervisor 24/7
  • Nurse aides: 1:15
  • RT available 24/7 hospital‑wide
  • IV therapy team handles all IV sticks

Scheduling

  • Self‑scheduling via committee
  • Rotating: 2 weeks days / 2 weeks nights (if applicable)
  • Nights: 6:45–7:15
  • Weekends: EOW
  • Holidays: Included in rotation

Certifications Required

  • BLS, ACLS
  • Core Nursing Exam
  • Ishihara Color Vision Screening
  • Stepdown/PCU Exam
  • Driver’s license required at submission
  • Must meet 50‑mile radius rule

Additional Notes

  • No vents, no continuous BiPAP
  • Cancellation: 2 shifts per 13‑week contract
  • Only submit to one WVU facility at a time
