Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an IMC Telemetry position requiring WI or compact RN licensure and prior cardiac telemetry and stepdown experience.

Details

  • Work in a Level II Trauma teaching hospital's IMC unit, covering both the Acute Med/Progressive Care unit and the Thoracic unit
  • Cares for telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown patient populations
  • 12-hour shifts available in day/evening (7:00am-7:30pm) or evening/night (7:00pm-7:30am) rotations, Monday through Friday
  • Every other weekend and some holidays required
  • Floating required as needed across units
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
  • Telemetry, oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience required
  • Ventilator and transplant experience required
  • Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the past 12 months
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80% or higher passing score on adult and pediatric exams

Additional Information

  • Provide bedside care including IV therapy, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
  • Manage respiratory needs such as BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and interpretation of ABGs
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and utilize rapid response/code teams
  • Administer medications including heparin protocols, PCA, and titration of vasoactive and insulin drips
  • Provide pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care, including TR band management
  • Manage pre/post hemodialysis care and surgical drains
  • Perform wound care/wound vac and maintain isolation precautions/PPE
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Two attempts allowed to pass the telemetry exam; a third attempt requires completion of a cardiac interpretation review course, or the assignment will be cancelled
