Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiac Telemetry/IMC position requiring WI or compact RN license and acute care telemetry experience.

Details

  • IMC/Stepdown unit within a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Cardiac telemetry and PCU/DOU/Stepdown patient population
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00pm-7:30am
  • Monday through Friday schedule with every other weekend required
  • Floating required as needed
  • Epic charting system used

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in cardiac telemetry or PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown specialty
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Preference for candidates with at least 3 years of core staff experience prior to travel nursing
  • Must pass a telemetry competency exam prior to starting, with strict passing criteria for adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation
  • Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line management, and blood product administration required
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP management and oxygen administration required
  • Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management required

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry nursing care within a cardiac and stepdown unit setting at a nationally ranked, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Traveler must pass a telemetry exam with strict criteria, including 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification and an 80% or higher passing score, within two attempts
  • If the second attempt is failed, a certificate of completion for a cardiac interpretation review course must be submitted before a third attempt is allowed
  • Assignment will be cancelled if the exam is not passed after three attempts
  • Experience with dysrhythmia management, rapid response/code teams, and cardiac drip management (no titration) is part of daily responsibilities
  • Preferred experience includes teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II settings
  • Parking permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available
