Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) night shift position at a Magnet-designated academic medical center in Madison, WI, requiring at least 2 years of acute care telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.

- Intermediate Medical Care (IMC) unit within a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma academic teaching hospital and nationally recognized referral center in Madison, WI
- Telemetry, medical-surgical, and cardiovascular patient population including post-cardiac angiogram and surgical cases
- Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend required
- Floating to other units required as needed
- Epic EMR required; experience within the past 12 months preferred
- Skills utilized include arterial line management, central and PICC line care, BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC management, vasoactive drip titration, heparin protocols, PCA management, IV insulin protocols, and telemetry rhythm interpretation and management
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required — American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient acute care RN experience in a telemetry or MS/Tele specialty within the last 3 years
- Epic EMR experience required
- Level II Trauma hospital experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience is not required — first-time travelers will be considered
- Proficiency with telemetry rhythm interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and respiratory support equipment (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation)

- This position is located at a Wisconsin #1-ranked hospital and one of the nation's leading academic teaching and referral centers
- A telemetry competency exam is required prior to start and must be passed within a limited number of attempts — the adult exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms (VFib, VTach, asystole) and no incorrect answers on 3rd-degree heart block questions, with an overall passing score of 80% or higher; the pediatric exam covers VFib, VTach, asystole, and sinus bradycardia with an 80% passing score
- If the telemetry exam is failed on the second attempt, a certificate of completion from a cardiac interpretation review course must be submitted before a third attempt is granted
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- Parking on-site requires a permit through UW Transportation; bus, park-and-ride, and private parking alternatives are also available
