Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an IMC/PCU Telemetry position requiring 2 years of stepdown experience and a compact or MD RN license.

Details

• Work in the IMC/PCU unit of a hospital setting
• Provides care for cardiac telemetry, stepdown, and neurological/CVA patient populations
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:30
• 36 hours per week
• 10 weekend shifts required per 13-week contract
• Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity when census drops
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or MD) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years
• Prior PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown and telemetry experience required
• Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management preferred
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac drip titration and telemetry remote monitoring preferred
• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry monitoring and emergency response including use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips per protocol
• Perform wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE compliance as needed
• Manage IV insulin and titration protocols for endocrine/metabolic patients
• Provide pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure management
• Scrubs not provided; navy blue/white color scheme required
• Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
• Local candidates accepted within 60 miles at a lower rate
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; maximum 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
• Previous MedStar employees must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
