Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Stepdown/PCU position requiring 2 years of PCU/ICU experience and frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units.

Details

• Stepdown/PCU unit that frequently floats to ICU and MedSurg units
• 21-bed unit
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00
• Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, MedSurg 1:5-6
• Cares for cardiac, vascular, neuro, and renal patient populations including NSTEMI, post cardiac cath with intervention, CVA, and CIWA/substance withdrawal patients
• Manages non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
• Cares for vascular surgery patients (fem-pop, CEA)
• Manages peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis patients (HD performed in Dialysis Dept)
• Provides respiratory care including stable BiPAP, heated high flow <80%, home ventilators (Trilogy), and nebulizer treatments
• Performs wound care
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Weekly orientation held every Wednesday

Requirements

• Active SC or Compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown/ICU experience required
• ICU experience required due to floating expectations
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Meditech charting experience preferred
• Skilled in central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
• Skilled in blood product administration and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Skilled in cardiac drip and vasoactive drip titration
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy care/management
• Skilled in wound care/wound vac

Additional Information

• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Frequent floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units, in accordance with facility floating policies and clinical experience
• Royal blue and white scrubs required
• Expected to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
• Minimal to no RTO permitted, especially during the first weeks of assignment
• Previous employees must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be considered
• First-time travelers may be considered
