Key Responsibilities
- Provide critical care nursing in an ICU/Multi-Operational Service Unit (MOSU) environment, managing both ICU-level and non-ICU patients within the same space
- Care for patients on vasoactive drips, ventilator weaning protocols, and hemodynamic monitoring; common diagnoses include sepsis, CHF, DKA, NSTEMI, atrial fibrillation, pneumonia, PE, and neurological conditions
- Interpret EKGs using Phillips telemetry monitoring system; must be proficient in telemetry and comfortable managing MedSurg/Tele patients as census dictates
- Assist with or support critical care procedures including bronchoscopies, central line insertions, intubations, thoracentesis, paracentesis, arterial line insertions, and hemodialysis catheter management
- Complete a pass/fail Day 1 SIMs Lab covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, with strict adherence to sterile field technique required
- Float as needed to MedSurg or to the MICU at an affiliated main campus facility; expected to function independently at times with support from a resource nurse and tech
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam must be completed and passed prior to contract start (two attempts allowed)
- Minimum of 1–2 years of strong general Medical and Surgical ICU experience; must be proficient with vasoactive drips and comfortable in a tele environment
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; driver's license is used as the source of truth for residency verification
- Travel nurses must have access to their own personal vehicle
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with ventilator management and vent weaning protocols
- Comfort and experience floating between ICU and MedSurg/Tele patient populations
- Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring including Swan-Ganz catheter management
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a lower-census, smaller-unit environment
