Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with strong neuro critical care skills for a night shift position requiring a VA or compact RN license and proficiency in Epic.

Details

• ICU setting with experience in Medical, Neuro, Surgical, and Trauma ICU populations
• Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend, floating, and holiday coverage required within the contract
• Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
• 48-hour contracts available with overtime billed after 48 hours
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum three years of critical care experience preferred
• Proficiency in Epic EMR required
• Strong neuro critical care experience required
• Skilled in ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Experience with arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drips, and emergency medications
• Experience managing CVA/acute stroke, EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgical patients
• No prior license or background history issues permitted
• No PAPR accommodation available; history of fit test issues will eliminate candidacy

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients, including neuro, surgical, trauma, and medical cases
• EKG proficiency testing required with a passing score of 80% or higher, no remediation available
• Three hours of pre-start orientation modules required and billable
• Local RN candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
• Required time off must be submitted in advance for review and approval on a case-by-case basis
