Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring strong neuro-critical care skills and at least one year of prior travel experience.

Details

• ICU setting with a high volume of neuro patients
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
• 13-week assignment
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Every-other-weekend requirement plus additional shifts as needed by unit
• On-call as needed
• May float to other units within scope of practice, including Summit or Herrick Campus, with shuttle service provided for floating and notice of approximately 1.5 hours prior to shift start
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 3 years of RN ICU experience required
• At least 1 year of travel nursing experience preferred
• Proficiency with neuro-critical care conditions including CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, EVD, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery care, TBI, and spinal cord injury
• Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and management of acute/chronic renal failure
• Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun preferred
• Experience with FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring and Swan Ganz line management preferred
• Copy of Nursys license verification uploaded within the last 2 weeks required
• AHA or ARC certifications with valid expiration dates required
• Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Additional Information

• Provide direct critical care to complex ICU patients, including those with neurological and multisystem organ dysfunction
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius to qualify for local candidate rate
• No separation time required for returning staff, though former manager's name must be listed on application
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only one holiday request permitted
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
• Re-orientation required only if previously employed at this facility and separated for 6+ months
• Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
• 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
• All compliance documents due 10 days prior to start date
• First-time travelers not considered for this role due to travel experience requirement
