Requirements

• Active RN license.
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications.
• NIHSS certification.
• Strong ICU experience, including ventilator management and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Two supervisory references required at submission:
  • One from within the past 12 months.
  • One from within the past 3 years.
• Government-issued ID/driver’s license required at submission.
• Basic DYS exam through UNA must be completed within 24–48 hours of assignment, with two attempts allowed. A recent Relias basic DYS exam completed within the past 12 months may be accepted.

Schedule & Additional Details 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM. Every other weekend; minimum four weekend shifts per four-week period. Holiday rotation with core staff. Travelers are expected to work two of the three major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. ICU has 12 beds, with nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:1–2. Cerner charting system. Charge nurse responsibilities may include break relief. No nurse aides or IV team available. Hospitalist/intensivist, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy available 24/7. Floating required to other Sacramento facilities; mid-shift floating is rare but possible. Orientation includes 12 hours plus 1–2 days on the unit with a preceptor. Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black. Overtime and additional shifts may be available. Self-scheduling is available, subject to manager approval.
