Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift acute care position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and CA RN licensure.

Details

• 8-bed ICU in an acute care hospital setting
• Primarily medical ICU diagnoses
• Patient ratios of 1:1-2
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but assists with break relief
• Nurse aides available based on census and staffing needs
• 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7:30am, with bedside report
• Every other weekend required
• Rotates in with core staff for holiday coverage
• First to float, including to sister facilities and the MedSurg unit at Woodland (up to 4 patients)
• Mid-shift floating to another facility is rare but possible
• Self-scheduling used, finalized by manager, with schedules posted 4 weeks out
• Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor
• Hospitalist/Intensivist, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy available 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring required, including EKG strip interpretation
• Ventilator management required
• No dedicated IV team

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor reference from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• No prior direct employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a medical ICU with a horseshoe unit layout
• PACU is adjacent to the ICU
• Good fit for a candidate with foundational ICU experience
• Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to confirmed offer, with two attempts allowed within 24-48 hours
• Relias Dysrhythmia exam results from within the last 12 months may be accepted if previously completed
• Sterile technique competency test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes administered on first day of orientation
• Failing the second attempt of the Relias exam and/or sterile technique test results in ineligibility with CommonSpirit Sacramento region and Arizona facilities for 6 months
• Scrub color is navy, with undershirts in navy, white, or black; scrub jackets optional and must be navy if worn
• Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), with final scheduling determined by management
• Holiday time off requests will be considered but not guaranteed
