Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/PCU position requiring frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units and a valid SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Stepdown/PCU unit within a 21-bed hospital setting that frequently floats to ICU and MedSurg units
  • Patient ratios are Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, and MedSurg 1:5-6
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:00
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units
  • Weekly orientation held every Wednesday
  • Uses Meditech EMR
  • Cares for patients on non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
  • Manages vascular cases including fem-pop and CEA procedures
  • Cares for NSTEMI patients and those status post cardiac catheterization with intervention
  • Manages CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan
  • Provides care for peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis patients (HD performed in Dialysis Dept)
  • Manages stable BiPAP, heated high-flow oxygen under 80%, and home ventilators (Trilogy)
  • Performs wound care and nebulizer treatments

Requirements

  • Valid SC RN license (Standard or Compact) required at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU, Stepdown, or ICU experience required
  • ICU experience required due to frequent floating to ICU unit
  • Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
  • Must be comfortable managing central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral IV therapy
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and high-flow nasal cannula
  • Skilled in cardiac drip titration, dysrhythmia interpretation, and cardiac monitoring
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac and pacemaker management preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Must be comfortable floating frequently between Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units
  • Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate, with no exceptions for local candidates
  • Scrubs must be royal blue and white
  • Holiday and weekend coverage expected in rotation with staff
  • Minimal to no RTO approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
  • Previous employees must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be considered
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
