Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring critical care skills and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Acute care setting in a 10-bed ICU with a 21-bed PCU
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 2:1 in ICU and 3:1 in PCU under normal circumstances, stretching to 3:1 ICU and 4:1 PCU
  • Treats patients with COVID, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, sepsis, and DKA
  • Manages ventilated patients, cath lab recovery, and therapeutic hypothermia cases
  • RNs are required to titrate drips including sedation, pressors, diuretics, insulin, and Amiodarone
  • Uses EPIC EMR system
  • RT available in ICU 24/7 with vents, CPAP/BiPAP, and high flow equipment
  • Remote tele/monitor techs available, but RNs are required to read their own strips
  • 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
  • Holiday coverage rotates with permanent staff
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Primary floating to PCU and medsurg units, with additional float required throughout Region I facilities (St. Francis Hospital – Federal Way, WA; Virginia Mason Medical Center – Seattle, WA; St. Anne Hospital – Burien, WA)
  • Centralized scheduling with 12-hour shift unit orientation

Requirements

  • Active WA or Compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, pending certifications not accepted
  • Experience with ventilated patients, cath lab recovery, and therapeutic hypothermia required
  • Experience titrating drips including sedation, pressors, diuretics, insulin, and Amiodarone
  • BSN not required for this position
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to ICU and PCU patients with complex diagnoses
  • Charge nurse coverage 24 hours; house supervisor coverage from 1500-0700
  • Nurse aide support available on PCU at 8:1 ratio, rarely available on ICU
  • Intensivist coverage 0800-1500 and hospitalist coverage 24 hours
  • No set scrub color; professional scrubs of any color permitted
  • $20 premium rate offered when floated to other Region I facilities
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
