Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN for a 13-week days assignment requiring an active MI license and 2+ years of ICU experience with floating to ED and step-down units.

Details

  • ICU setting within a Critical Care unit at an acute care hospital
  • ICU ratios of 1:2 (1:1 for special populations); step-down ratios of 1:4; ED ratios mirror ICU/step-down when holding patients
  • Uses Cerner EMR
  • 12-hour day shifts
  • Every other weekend required, with at least 2 shifts from each shift type requested
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating to ED and step-down units required
  • Navy blue scrub dress code

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required at time of submission
  • Compact licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Must be comfortable floating to ED and step-down units
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Nice to have certifications: TCAR, TNCC, CCRN, SCRN
  • Travel nursing experience preferred
  • Neuro surgical experience preferred
  • Open heart experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Collaborate with physicians to develop and carry out patient care plans
  • Delegate to and oversee Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Associates, and other support staff
  • Serve in a leadership role including care coordination, patient/family teaching, and discharge planning
  • Precept and mentor new employees and students as needed
  • Function as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and assignment delegation
  • Facility enforces a strict three-strike attendance policy for absences, tardiness, or leaving shifts early without approval
  • No more than 5 days of RTO can be requested during the assignment
  • Local candidates within a 35-mile radius are considered local travelers and may receive a reduced rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
