Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed ICU setting with an average daily census of 16, maintaining a 1:2–3 nurse-to-patient ratio for adult patients
  • Manage and titrate a variety of drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
  • Assess, interpret, and document cardiac monitor strips and telemetry; utilize GE monitoring systems with tele tech oversight
  • Care for a diverse patient population including trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, overdose/substance abuse, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress, post-stent, pacemaker placement, and vascular cases
  • Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilation
  • Float to PCU or MedSurg units as needed, maintaining comparable patient ratios (1:4 or 1:5)

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current NIHSS certification
  • Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
  • Compliance with facility infection control policies, including prohibition of artificial nails in all patient care areas

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior ICU experience with complex adult patient populations including trauma and cardiac cases
  • Experience titrating vasoactive and sedation drips in a critical care environment
  • Familiarity with GE cardiac monitoring systems and telemetry interpretation
