Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a 33-bed ICU with an average daily census of 16, maintaining a 1:2–3 nurse-to-patient ratio for adult patients
  • Manage and titrate a variety of drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation medications
  • Assess, monitor, and document cardiac telemetry strips using GE monitoring equipment, with tele tech oversight support
  • Care for a diverse patient population including trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, overdose/substance abuse, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress, post-stent, pacemaker placement, and vascular cases
  • Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment ranging from nasal cannula to mechanical ventilators
  • Float to PCU or MedSurg units as needed, maintaining comparable patient ratios

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Ability to read, interpret, and document cardiac telemetry strips
  • Proficiency with titrating drips including cardiac, insulin, and sedation infusions
  • Must be available to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Must be available to report to the unit within 30 minutes if called back in from on-call status

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior travel or contract nursing experience in an ICU setting
  • Experience with a broad range of critical care diagnoses including stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and trauma populations
  • Familiarity with GE monitoring systems
