ICU Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in providing high-level patient care in an Intensive Care Unit setting.
Position Details
- Unit: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
- Shift Length: 12 hours
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Years of Experience Required: 2 Years
Required Certifications
- ACLS
- BLS Certification
- NIHSS
Unit Overview
- Number of Beds: 33 beds, average daily census of 16
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adults
- Common Patient Conditions: Trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, adult sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, respiratory distress
- Drips Management: RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
- Support Staff: Nurse Aides are available based on census; Healthcare Support Tech available 3 days per week
Technological Equipment
- Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula
- RNs required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment
Shifts & Scheduling
- Shifts: 0630-1830 and 1830-0630
- Self-scheduling available for core staff; travelers added in
- Minimum of 2 holiday shifts required during contract period
- Weekend work required every other weekend
Orientation and Administrative Notes
- Orientation consists of a 1-shift unit-specific training
- RTO (Request Time Off) should be submitted upfront (7 days or less per 13-week contract); additional RTO will not be approved
Additional Information
- Must have a valid driver's license upon submission to determine eligibility based on distance from the facility
- Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care departments; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
- Passed/fail exam on skills taught during orientation; open book exam with necessary resources provided; a minimum score of 90% is required to pass
