Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring prior travel experience and Zoll/thermoguard cooling proficiency in a Level 3 trauma facility.

Details

• Combined ICU/PCU unit with 16 ICU beds and 14 PCU beds
• ICU nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-2 and PCU ratio of 1:3
• Patient population includes vented, cardiac post-PCI, impella, IABP, stroke (TNK), TTM, vascular, trauma, EtOH, sepsis, OD, and CRRT patients
• No CV surgical patients assigned to travelers
• RNs responsible for titrating standard ICU drips including vasoactive and sedative medications
• PCU involves mild titrations including some pressors within written parameters
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a
• Every other weekend typically required, may vary based on need
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• Floating required between ICU and PCU within the unit, travelers float first
• No call or standby requirement
• Charge nurse supports the whole unit without taking a patient assignment
• CNAs on unit at 1:8 ratio
• Tele tech monitors on unit; RN must be comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry
• Intensivist coverage 7 days a week, RT and hospitalist in-house 24/7
• Scheduling support provided by scheduling tech, traveler expected to be flexible and fill gaps
• No blocked scheduling or special scheduling requests accepted

Requirements

• Active RN license (ID or compact) required at time of submission
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred
• Previous travel experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Zoll/thermoguard cooling experience with TTM required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Manage vented patients, respiratory treatments, specimen collection, and assist with bronchoscopies as part of RT collaboration
• CNAs support with vitals, foley care, bathing, IV pulls, bladder scans, and specimen collection
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation includes 2 shifts on the unit
• Great team culture with strong staff engagement and interaction with travelers
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Local candidates will not be considered
• Permanent employees must be away for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment
• Client may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
