Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with a compact or MD RN license for a 13-week assignment requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a hospital treating trauma, cardiovascular, stroke, and neuro patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to the IMC unit
• EPIC charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Standard or Compact), MD or compact license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience preferred, will consider 2+ years with strong background
• No new graduate RNs accepted
• Prior travel RN experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Trauma Level I or II hospital experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and airway suctioning
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and managing continuous IV sedation
• Experience with CVA/stroke management and post-neurosurgical/craniotomy care
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and infection prevention practices

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to patients with complex trauma, cardiovascular, stroke, and neurological conditions
• Manage patients requiring advanced monitoring such as CVP, arterial lines, and cardiac drips
• Participate in floating rotations to the IMC unit as needed based on clinical scope
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius, as local candidates are generally not accepted
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Only one RTO request permitted, must be approved prior to assignment start
• Former travelers must separate for at least 90 days before returning to this facility as a traveler
• Former permanent employees must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Expect to work some holidays and weekends as part of the schedule
