Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting managing a 1:2 or 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio across Surgical ICU (Trauma/Neuro) and Medical/Cardiac ICU units
- Titrate a wide range of vasoactive, sedation, and analgesic drips including propofol, levophed, vasopressin, heparin, insulin, and others as ordered
- Independently interpret cardiac monitor strips using GE monitoring equipment — no monitor technicians on unit
- Manage ventilated patients using equipment including Draeger, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 BiPap, and Airvo
- Float between sister ICU units (Surgical ICU, Medical/Cardiac ICU, and overflow ICU) as needed, as well as to telemetry at a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio
- Complete the UNA Dysrhythmia Exam (maximum 2 attempts) within 24–48 hours prior to position acceptance, and pass a Sim Lab skills validation on Day 1 of orientation
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience required — no exceptions
- Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular (CV) ICU
- Active RN license valid in Arizona (or compact eligibility)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; candidates who have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year are not eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or dedicated neuro ICU environment
- Experience with advanced cardiac procedures such as CABG recovery, TAVR, IABP, Impella, ECMO, or Tandem Heart
- Prior experience in a similarly sized ICU (32+ beds)
- First-time travelers welcome provided all experience requirements are met
