Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring Level I trauma experience and NC or compact licensure.

Details

  • Medical Intensive Care Unit setting in a hospital environment
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Possible on-call if census is low
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • 12-week contract

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, must be in hand
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS or Stroke certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Level I trauma experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and ETT/NT suctioning
  • Experience interpreting ABGs and managing respiratory failure
  • Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation and emergency medications
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12 lead EKG acquisition
  • Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols
  • Must pass an EKG/Telemetry exam onsite during orientation

Additional Information

  • Care for critically ill ICU patients requiring advanced respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and renal interventions
  • Royal blue scrub color required
  • Biweekly orientation schedule
  • Flu vaccine required with no exemptions or declinations accepted
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates with prior permanent employment at this health system must not have worked there within the past 6 months
  • RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
  • Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
