Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with a TX or compact license for a night shift assignment requiring critical care skills and floating capability.

Details

  • ICU setting within a hospital environment
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:30-7:00)
  • 36 or 48 hours per week considered
  • Floating required to MS/Tele units during low census periods, potentially for the majority of scheduled shifts
  • Ratios of 5-6:1 when floating to MS/Tele
  • Standard ICU ratio of 1:2-3
  • May work in ICU, PCU, and/or MS/Tele based on facility needs as PCU opens
  • Cerner charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC or TCAR
  • 6 hours total of stroke education required (facility can provide if needed)
  • EKG course completion required (facility can provide if needed)
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, and PICC line management
  • Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Skilled in continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade administration
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and post-neurosurgery care preferred
  • Experience with post cardiac surgery and pre/post cardiac cath care preferred
  • Experience with TAVR and sheath removal preferred
  • Two supervisor references required from within the last 3 years of employment
  • RTO must be submitted with candidate profile

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across ICU, PCU, and MS/Tele units as needed based on census
  • Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for positive results
  • Candidates should avoid CBD products prior to arrival to prevent a positive drug screen result
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers are not being considered for this role
