Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift float pool position requiring a CA RN license and 2+ years of ICU experience across multiple hospital campuses.

Details

• ICU float pool position covering multiple campuses: Thornton (La Jolla), Jacobs (La Jolla), Hillcrest, and East Campus (La Mesa)
• May float to EDIP (emergency department inpatient overflow) within the ER
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• Patient population includes cardiac, neuro, general, stroke, medical, surgical, kidney and liver solid organ transplant, and trauma cases
• 4-week schedule provided two weeks in advance with no blocked or self-scheduling
• RN receives a call 2 hours prior to shift confirming facility assignment
• Must be willing to work across all three float locations during the contract
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holiday periods (Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's)

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Minimum one year of acute care experience required
• At least one year of full-time equivalent experience in ICU specialty within the past two years
• Required skills: A-lines, phlebotomy, PICC lines, chest tubes, ventilator management, telemetry, and IV starts
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred skills: pulmonary artery lines, ICP monitoring
• Preferred: BSN
• Two manager references required, including at least one supervisory/director/manager reference from the relevant unit within the past year

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing across multiple ICU patient populations, including transplant and trauma cases
• Assignment includes annual and orientation training modules, factored into scheduled hours
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Floating may occur within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals based on census and unit needs
• Previous UCSD employees must be gone at least 1 year before returning as a traveler and must disclose prior employment at submission
• No RTO permitted within the first 21 days of the assignment
• RTO requests must be finalized prior to consideration and cannot be changed afterward
