  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Required within scope to adult ICU units, adult acute care, and ED boarding areas as needed
  • Orientation: 8 hours

Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
  • 2 years of ICU experience preferred for this high-acuity cardiac nursing role
  • ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Strong cardiac ICU experience preferred, including management of complex cardiovascular conditions
  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and respond quickly to emergent changes in patient condition
  • Comfort with adult critical care nursing and floating within scope
  • Must be able to work nights and every other weekend
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior Level I or Level II trauma experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert bedside care to acutely ill adult cardiac and critical care patients
  • Monitor and manage patients with conditions such as cardiac arrest, myocardial infarction, CHF, pulmonary edema, cardiogenic shock, sepsis, and respiratory failure
  • Perform and support advanced ICU interventions, including CVP monitoring, CRRT, IABP, Swan-Ganz monitoring, and target temperature management
  • Administer and titrate vasoactive, cardiac, sedation, and other critical drips per protocol
  • Assist with RSI, central line placement, arterial line placement, and sheath removal
  • Manage ventilated patients, interpret ABGs, and provide respiratory support as needed
  • Safely administer blood products and maintain central, PICC, and arterial line care
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response, and other interdisciplinary team members
  • Maintain infection prevention, isolation precautions, and strong documentation practices in Epic
  • Adapt to floating assignments within critical care and adult acute care settings when required
