Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring VA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of ICU experience.

Details

  • Acute care hospital ICU setting with 255 staffed beds
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • Float within scope to acute care unit at 1:4 ratio during low census or high-need periods
  • Meditech charting system used, experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required, 2 years preferred
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care/management required
  • Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips required
  • Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
  • Experience with chronic/acute renal failure required
  • Phlebotomy and infection prevention/isolation precautions competency required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU environment
  • Scrub color requirement: black or Caribbean blue
  • Fit testing required, with candidates expected to be clean-shaven unless a provider-approved exemption is obtained in advance
  • Zero-tolerance drug policy, including no acceptance of medical marijuana cards
  • Drug screening required both during compliance and again on day one onsite
  • RTO must be pre-approved and finalized prior to assignment confirmation, with expected holiday coverage based on number of holidays falling within the assignment
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates not accepted; must reside 50+ miles from the facility
  • Not eligible if previously worked as permanent staff at this facility within the past 24 months
