Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown/PCU RN who will frequently float to ICU and MedSurg units, requiring both PCU and ICU experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • 21-bed Stepdown/PCU unit that frequently floats to ICU and MedSurg units
  • Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, MedSurg 1:5-6
  • Manages non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
  • Cares for vascular patients (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, and post cardiac catheterization with intervention
  • Manages CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan (no Precedex)
  • Provides care for peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis patients (HD provided in Dialysis Dept)
  • Manages stable BiPAP, heated high-flow <80%, and home ventilators (Trilogy)
  • Provides wound care and nebulizer treatments
  • Uses Meditech EMR
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Weekly orientation held every Wednesday
  • Frequent floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown/ICU experience required
  • ICU experience required in addition to PCU experience due to floating expectations
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Must be comfortable managing both Stepdown and ICU level patients
  • Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units as needed based on facility demand
  • Scrub color requirement: royal blue and white
  • Expect to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
  • Floating occurs only within this single hospital facility, in accordance with Joint Commission standards including appropriate orientation to new units
  • Minimal to no RTO approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment; any RTO must be discussed prior to assignment start
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous employees must have been gone for at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be eligible for return
