Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Stepdown/PCU position requiring 2 years of PCU/stepdown/ICU experience and frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units.

Details

  • -bed unit hospital setting
  • Stepdown role that frequently floats to ICU and MedSurg units
  • Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, MedSurg 1:5-6
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Weekly orientation held every Wednesday
  • Uses Meditech EMR
  • Manages non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
  • Cares for vascular patients including fem-pop and CEA procedures
  • Cares for NSTEMI and post cardiac catheterization intervention patients
  • Manages CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan (Precedex not used)
  • Provides care for peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis (in Dialysis Dept) patients
  • Manages stable BiPAP and heated high flow oxygen therapy (<80%)
  • Manages home ventilators (Trilogy)
  • Performs wound care and nebulizer treatments

Requirements

  • ile RN license or compact license required
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU/stepdown/ICU experience required
  • Must be comfortable floating between Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units
  • Meditech charting experience preferred
  • Travel experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral/PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
  • Experienced in cardiac drip titration and dysrhythmia management
  • Experienced in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experienced with pacemakers and pre/post cardiac cath care including TR Band

Additional Information

  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for the travel position
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
  • Expect to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
  • Floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units in accordance with facility floating policies and clinical experience
  • Appropriate orientation provided when floating to a new unit per Joint Commission standards
  • Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue and White
  • Minimal to no requested time off (RTO) approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
  • Any RTO must be discussed during interview and approved prior to assignment start
  • Previous employees must have been gone for at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be eligible for return
