Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position at a Trauma Level I hospital, requiring CA licensure and prior travel and ICU experience.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a Trauma Level I hospital
• Cares for medical, neuro, surgical, and trauma ICU patients with a 1:2 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• May float to like or lower acuity units across the health system's 5 hospitals, excluding the ED
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week cycle
• Required to work at least one holiday, including the holiday weekend
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; TNCC preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU-specific experience, with recent experience within the past year
• 1.5 years of continuous specialty experience without breaks, unless floating or working at or below skillset with matching ratios
• Travel nursing experience required, including 1 year total travel experience and 6+ months of continuous travel experience leading up to consideration
• Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience required within the last 6 months
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated or tracheostomy patients
• Skilled in CVP monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD, IV insulin protocols, and continuous IV sedation or paralytics
• Experience managing neurological conditions including CVA, TBI, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy care preferred
• 1 supervisory-level reference required
• Valid copies of all required certifications and Nysys verification required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing across medical, neuro, surgical, and trauma ICU settings
• Manage complex, multisystem patients requiring advanced hemodynamic and respiratory support
• Float requirements apply at or below skillset, with occasional float to other campuses depending on need
• No first-time travelers considered for this role
• Returning staff or travelers eligible to reapply after 1 year from separation
• Maximum 7 days RTO allowed, with no additional requests after consideration
• Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not eligible unless LVN/MA
• Candidates on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months or more are considered local and ineligible
• International travelers must have 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
