Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit – Topeka, KS 66606
Start Date: October 7, 2026
Location: Topeka, Kansas
Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend required. Patient ratio of 2:1. This is an 84-day travel assignment ending December 30, 2026.
Highlights:
- Mixed ICU/CVICU unit with cardiac patient population including open heart surgery recovery
- 16-bed unit with daily census of 13 patients, supported by interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services, IV teams, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Manage complex critical care patients including ventilator management, multiple drip titrations, CRRT, IABP, and Impella devices
- 6-10 cardiovascular cases per month with opportunity to recover your own patients
- First-time travelers welcome with 12 hours of orientation provided
- Comprehensive support services including phlebotomy, radiology, physical therapy, and interpretation services
Requirements:
- Valid Kansas or Compact RN license required at time of submission
- BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required in hand at submission
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred
- Experience with Epic charting system preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Must be able to manage two ventilated patients simultaneously with multiple drip titrations
- Experience with cardiac patient populations, arterial line management, central line care, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care procedures required
- Must reside outside 50-mile local radius
- Willingness to float to like units within scope as needed
