Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 3 or 4 shifts per week
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • Scheduling: Block scheduling approved; weekend coverage required
  • Critical Care Unit: MICU/SICU/CCU/ICU
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Unit Size: 10 beds
  • Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or a valid compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
  • At least 2 years of ICU nursing experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Recent experience with Epic documentation required
  • Ability to complete required onboarding items and laboratory requirements within 48 hours of contract signing
  • All requested time off must be provided during submission

ICU Nursing Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients
  • Care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and airway suctioning
  • Monitor and manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, ports, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring equipment
  • Titrate cardiac and vasoactive medication infusions, continuous IV sedation, and IV insulin protocols
  • Interpret arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Support patients experiencing acute stroke, renal failure, multisystem organ dysfunction, cardiac conditions, and complex surgical diagnoses
  • Administer blood products and provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterization and interventions
  • Assist with chest tube procedures, procedural sedation monitoring, IV starts, phlebotomy, and other critical care interventions
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
  • Maintain accurate Epic documentation, uphold infection prevention standards, and deliver compassionate care in a fast-paced ICU environment
