Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit, Bangor, ME This travel nursing assignment supports critically ill medical, surgical, trauma, neurological, orthopedic, and interventional patients in a high-acuity setting. The role requires strong critical care assessment skills, neuro and trauma experience, ventilator management, critical care drip management, external drain care, and hemodynamic monitoring.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 48 hours per week; every-other-weekend rotation with Friday and Saturday night shifts. No on-call requirement.
- Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Neuro and trauma experience
- Experience with External Ventricular Drain (EVD) and intracranial pressure monitoring
- Ventilator management and critical care drip management
- Drain management, stroke care, and hemodynamic lines, including arterial and central venous pressure lines
- Cardiac rhythm recognition, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
- Strong patient assessment skills
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit experience
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information:
- Patient assignments generally maintain a 1:2 ratio based on acuity, with a potential third patient during a discharge or transfer.
- May float to the Cardiac Care Unit, cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit when within scope and applicable pediatric experience is present.
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit floating requires pediatric experience and current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Assignment dates are 12/15/2026 through 03/13/2027.
- Orientation includes general facility orientation followed by one shift on the assigned unit.
- Holiday scheduling varies according to operational need.
- Unit support includes 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, and intensivist consultation.
