Travel Nurse Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090–$2,200
  • Location: Marion, Illinois
  • Healthcare Setting: On-site, 18-bed ICU with ICU and step-down level patients
  • Start Date: July 27, 2026
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Weekend and Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 2:1 for ICU patients and 3:1 for step-down patients
  • Float Requirement: May float to step-down level care as needed
  • Orientation: 12 hours
  • Scrubs: Navy blue

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • At least 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience; 3 years preferred
  • At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment
  • Associate degree or nursing certificate
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification
  • Current NIHSS certification
  • Strong neurological assessment skills, including NIHSS and dysphagia screening
  • Proficiency with telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, resilience, adaptability, and strong communication skills

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill ICU and step-down patients.
  • Perform thorough nursing assessments, with an emphasis on neurological status and changes in condition.
  • Interpret telemetry and EKG results and promptly communicate significant findings.
  • Manage endotracheal tubes and ventilated patients in collaboration with respiratory therapy.
  • Initiate and titrate sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, vasoactive medications, insulin infusions, and other critical care therapies according to orders and protocols.
  • Implement sepsis protocols and provide evidence-based care for patients recovering from cardiac arrest, including post-ROSC therapeutic hypothermia protocols.
  • Complete NIHSS assessments and dysphagia screenings as clinically indicated.
  • Support safe patient transitions between ICU and step-down levels of care.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation while promoting patient safety and high-quality patient outcomes.
