ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Iowa
• At least 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience; cardiac surgical or cardiovascular critical care experience is highly valued
• Demonstrated ability to provide care for high-acuity and post-surgical patients
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
• Current or eligible completion of required nursing competency and credential verification
• Willingness to work night shifts, alternating weekends, and alternating holidays

Cardiac Surgical ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive bedside nursing care to critically ill cardiac and surgical patients
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and respond promptly to clinical needs
• Administer medications and therapies safely while following critical care protocols
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Manage complex post-operative care and support recovery following cardiac and thoracic procedures
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and patient progress
• Educate patients and families and provide compassionate support throughout the care experience
