Job Summary

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit position providing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex and critical conditions. The role involves managing critically ill patients, supporting advanced therapies, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team in a high-acuity setting.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 312 night shifts, 48 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Two years of experience.
    • Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
    • Experience with required electronic charting systems.
    • Experience caring for two patients per nurse.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Previous travel experience.
    • Previous charge experience.
    • Community hospital experience.
    • Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience.
    • Trauma Level I or Trauma Level II experience.
  • Additional Information:
    • Provides care for adult and geriatric patients in a Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit and cardiac care setting.
    • Typical patient diagnoses include cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, acute kidney injury, endocarditis, septic shock, cirrhosis, gastrointestinal bleeding, pulmonary embolism, small bowel obstruction, cardiogenic shock, and ST-elevation myocardial infarction.
    • Patient assignment ratio is 1:2.
    • Responsibilities may include ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, continuous intravenous sedation, vasoactive medication titration, dysrhythmia management, chest tube care, renal replacement therapy, cardiac device management, and post-cardiac surgery care.
    • Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
