Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while promoting patient and employee safety through adherence to safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming an individualized care plan.
• Identify teaching needs and goals in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the medical record.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, prioritizing patient education based on identified healthcare needs.
• Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission, including patient teaching for anticipated discharge dates.
• Communicate changes in patient status effectively among care providers to support continuity of care and safety.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, including appropriate delegation of tasks.
• Maintain a calm and reassuring environment for patients, families, and staff, contributing positively to the unit's dynamics.
• Identify and communicate service needs regarding supplies, equipment, and clinical training to management.
• Assume charge responsibilities as requested after the orientation period.
• Engage in ongoing professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience

• Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is required.

Certifications/Licensure

• BLS Certification is required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS certification is required prior to the first shift (CIRH only).
