Job Summary
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nurse Asheville, NC. This position offers an opportunity to work in a Magnet-recognized hospital that is an American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified Level I Trauma Center. The role involves providing specialized care within a 20-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), supporting critically ill patients requiring advanced interventions and procedures.

Job Details

  • Certifications & Experience: Valid Nursing License, Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and BLS (Basic Life Support) Certifications. No minimum years of experience required.
  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, including 6 weekend shifts over a 6-week schedule.
  • Unit Specifics: The SICU handles trauma and surgical patients, performing procedures such as intubation, chest tube placement, central line and A-line placement, Foley placement, proning, TPA administration, hypertonic medication administration, trach placement, EVD/bold placement, CRRT/HD, irrigation and debridement, and minor surgeries.
  • Team & Environment: The unit emphasizes teamwork, positive attitudes, and flexibility. The staff includes RNs, a supervisor, PCTs, and ICU HUCs, working with state-of-the-art equipment including GE ventilators, GE Carescape bedside monitors, Prisma Max CRRT, and others.
  • Floating Policy: Travelers will float to other ICUs or step-down units as needed before core staff.
