Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) care in Albemarle, North Carolina. The position involves providing critical care in a 10-bed ICU with an average census of 7.3 patients per day. This role requires overseeing a variety of patient conditions, including sepsis, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, respiratory illnesses, and more, with a focus on patient safety and quality care.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Active BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Stroke experience and NIH assessments are preferred.
  • Floats: Float rotation may be required within the region, including facilities in Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only)), and Behavioral Health unit, as needed within scope of practice.
  • Support within Department: House Supervisor, charge nurse, phlebotomy team during day shift, RT (Respiratory Therapist) available 24/7, hospitalist team available 24/7, and intensivist physician rounding Mon-Fri around 6 am.
  • Technology/Equipment: EMR system is EPIC; alarms enabled on IV pumps; Med dispenser is Omnicell; monitors are Phillips.
  • Orientation: 2-3 days of department-specific orientation and facility onboarding.
  • Travel and Location Notes: Position located at the facility in Albemarle, NC, with potential for regional floating within specified facilities to meet operational needs.
  • Additional Information: Scrub color is navy with no T-shirts allowed; undershirts must be white or navy. No Crocs footwear. Parking is free. The unit promotes teamwork, open communication, and constructive feedback.
