Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants while providing direct patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of an individualized plan of care.
- Identify teaching needs and goals related to the diagnosis of each patient, collaborating with patients, families, and the Interdisciplinary team.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in accordance with policy.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Initiate discharge planning on the day of admission and patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
- Communicate all pertinent information regarding changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide direction and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, utilizing problem-solving techniques to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Contribute positively to the unit by providing calm direction and reassurance to patients and staff.
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested after the orientation period.
- Engage in professional growth and continuing education for self-development.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (specific to certain locations).
- Minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
