Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a full float position requiring 4 years of ICU experience and an active CA RN license.

Details

  • ICU float position covering multiple campus locations approximately 15 minutes apart, connected by shuttle transport
  • 3x12 Day/Night rotating shift schedule (0700-1930 / 1900-0730)
  • Weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float required as needed between campuses, with schedule confirmed 2 hours prior to shift start
  • Mid-shift floating between campuses is rare

Requirements

  • Active California RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 4 years of ICU experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory therapies (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, suctioning)
  • Experience managing patients with acute/chronic renal failure, including CRRT/CVVHD
  • Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and administering continuous sedation or paralytics
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
  • Neurological care experience including CVA/stroke management, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgical care
  • Experience in Neuro ICU and/or Surgical ICU settings preferred
  • Cardiovascular procedural experience preferred (CABG, ECMO, IABP, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, LVAD/RVAD)
  • Proficient in infection prevention practices and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients across multiple hospital campuses within the same health system
  • Responsibilities may include managing complex cardiac, neurological, renal, and respiratory conditions
  • Must complete lab work within 3-5 days of contract signing
  • 7-year work history verification required for all candidates
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
  • Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
  • Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Local candidates accepted at local rate
  • Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius for local rate eligibility
