Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU Registered Nurse for a float pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring CA RN licensure and prior travel experience.

Details

  • Float pool ICU position with no fixed unit assignment
  • Floats to Trauma/Critical Care Units, ICUs, ED, and PACU as needed
  • May be reassigned to other departments, units, or facilities within a 75+ mile radius
  • Day (3x12, 7:00-19:30) or Night (3x12, 19:00-7:30) rotating shifts
  • Shift schedule may switch between day and night each 4-week cycle depending on need
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Epic charting system used

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required at time of submission
  • BSN required
  • AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience within the last 6 months to 1 year
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Prior travel assignment completed within the past 12 months required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and TPN/lipid administration
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory failure care
  • Experience managing cardiac drips, dysrhythmias, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
  • 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across multiple ICU and critical care settings within a large academic medical system
  • Care for complex ICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions such as CRRT, ECMO, IABP, or EVD management depending on unit assignment
  • All RTO must be disclosed and approved at time of offer; no additional requests accepted mid-contract
  • RTO not permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
  • Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review
  • Travel pairs allowed but generally not placed on the same unit; married couples may not work the same unit
