Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 1 trauma float pool position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and AZ or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Acute care Level 1 trauma teaching hospital setting in the ICU Float Pool
• Float pool RN will rotate among Tower 2 (medical/surgical/trauma, 1:2 ratio), Tower 4 (cardiothoracic ICU specializing in lung transplants and ECMO, 1:2 ratio), and 4 Neuro (neuro ICU, 1:2 ratio) as well as MedSurg/Tele units (1:4 ratio)
• May float to sister campuses including Westgate in Glendale and AZ General in Laveen
• Uses Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts, either 7AM-7:30PM or 7PM-7:30AM
• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule (Saturdays and Sundays)
• Holiday coverage required based on unit needs
• Schedule posted 4 weeks in advance and may change with 2 weeks notice based on hospital needs
• No on-call requirement, though may be placed on standby with a 30-minute response time during low census
• Manages all types of critical drips and all types of respiratory support equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• Uses GE telemetry monitors and requires ability to read telemetry strips
• 2 shifts of orientation provided, with a third shift available if needed

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred but not required
• Must be able to pass an Advanced Dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within 2 attempts prior to contract confirmation
• Must pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab skills check for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, maintaining sterile field technique
• Must be a well-rounded ICU nurse able to function independently when floated to other units
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across multiple ICU and Tele units as part of a float pool team
• Complete quality two-person skin assessments within the first 4 hours of each shift
• All patient reports completed at the bedside
• Report to shift huddle by 7AM or 7PM on the assigned unit and clock in under the appropriate department code for that unit
• Receive shift assignments via a texting service or phone call from the off-site staffing office
• Must be willing to float to any assigned ICU or MedSurg/Tele unit without refusal
• Educational review provided for lifts, restraints, and wound care due to facility-specific equipment and policies
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license address
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any facility associated with the health system within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
