  • Weekly Pay:$1,800 to $2,000
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Receive, identify, accession, and prepare tissue specimens according to laboratory protocols
  • Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and slide preparation
  • Operate microtomes, tissue processors, embedding stations, and other histology equipment
  • Prepare routine and special stains for microscopic examination
  • Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures as required by the laboratory
  • Assist with frozen section preparation and other specialized procedures when needed
  • Evaluate slides for technical quality, staining consistency, and artifact
  • Troubleshoot staining, processing, and equipment issues and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Maintain accurate specimen identification, labeling, and documentation throughout the testing process
  • Follow laboratory quality control and quality assurance procedures
  • Maintain appropriate reagent and supply inventory
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and document maintenance activities
  • Follow infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and laboratory safety standards
  • Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory scientists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field as applicable
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Histotechnologist experience
  • Appropriate national certification such as ASCP HT/HTL required by facility
  • Ability to meet applicable state and facility laboratory requirements
  • Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide preparation
  • Experience with routine histology and special stains
  • IHC experience preferred
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary laboratory team
