  • Shift: Evening Shift
  • Schedule: 5×8
  • Experience Required: 2 Years
  • Weekly Pay:$1,550 to $1,750
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Receive, identify, and prepare tissue specimens for histological examination
  • Perform tissue fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining procedures
  • Prepare high-quality paraffin sections using microtomes
  • Perform routine and special histochemical stains according to laboratory protocols
  • Assist with immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures as required
  • Prepare slides for microscopic examination and pathologist interpretation
  • Evaluate slides for technical quality and repeat procedures when necessary
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histology laboratory equipment
  • Perform quality control procedures to ensure specimen integrity and reliable results
  • Maintain accurate specimen identification, tracking, and laboratory documentation
  • Enter and update information in laboratory information systems (LIS)
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection prevention, laboratory safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
  • Communicate specimen issues, equipment concerns, and processing problems to supervisors or pathologists
  • Participate in quality assurance and laboratory process improvement activities
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Histotechnologist experience
  • ASCP HT or HTL certification required by facility
  • Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques
  • Experience with routine and special stains
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC) experience preferred
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
  • Strong understanding of specimen handling and identification
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently during evening shifts
  • Commitment to laboratory quality, accuracy, and patient safety
