Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Night Shift Contract in Peoria, Illinois

Experienced ICU Registered Nurses are invited to join a critical care team in Peoria, Illinois, for a 13-week travel nursing contract caring for high-acuity adult patients in an 8-bed intensive care unit. Travel ICU RN Job Details

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220
• Start Date: October 12, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending January 11, 2027
• Healthcare Setting: Acute-care ICU / high-acuity unit
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
• Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week, generally three shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and additional coverage as needed
• Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation and additional coverage as needed
• Electronic Medical Record: Epic
• Orientation: Classroom orientation plus two unit-based precepted shifts

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent ICU or critical care registered nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Demonstrated ability to care for sedated and mechanically ventilated patients
• Experience titrating vasoactive, sedation, analgesia, and other critical care infusions
• Proficiency with PEG tube care and feedings, central venous catheters, PICC lines, midlines, and tracheostomy patients
• Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, and provide safe nursing care in a high-acuity environment
• Willingness to float to a medical-surgical unit when operationally necessary

Travel ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adults with conditions including respiratory failure, post-surgical recovery, cardiac conditions, post-CVA needs, trauma, wounds, and complex infections
• Assess patients, identify changes in condition, and promptly communicate clinical findings to the care team
• Care for ventilated patients and support the management of respiratory equipment, including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen systems
• Titrate and monitor critical care infusions such as vasopressors, sedatives, analgesics, insulin, antiarrhythmics, and diuretics according to clinical orders and policy
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, midlines, tracheostomies, PEG tubes, and other complex medical devices
• Monitor and interpret patient telemetry while coordinating with respiratory therapy and other members of the interdisciplinary team
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and patient-centered environment while following applicable clinical and facility policies
