Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a High Acuity Float Pool position requiring 2 years of ICU experience and prior floating experience.

Details

  • High Acuity Float Pool position in an acute care hospital setting
  • Floats across Critical Care, Observation, Med Surg, General Surgery, Ortho Surgery, Short Stay Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Telemetry and Progressive Care units
  • Patient population includes medical, surgical, neuro and cardiac diagnoses
  • Standard AACN CCU staffing with 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios, up to 1:3 for lower acuity or transfer-ready patients
  • Responsible for titrating drips including Epi, Norepi, Dobutamine, Propofol, Esmolol, Hydromorphone, Midazolam, and CIS
  • Unit utilizes Phillips monitors with Monitor Techs, and RNs are expected to read telemetry strips
  • Respiratory equipment on unit includes ventilators, high flow, BiPap, and CPAP
  • Night shift schedule from 7p-730a with self-scheduling available
  • 3 weekend shifts required per schedule and holiday coverage required
  • No call or standby requirements
  • Charge RN/Resource role is supernumerary and does not take a patient assignment
  • Nurse aides available at a ratio of 1-2 depending on daily census
  • EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active WA or Compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, high acuity experience preferred
  • Prior floating experience required, including float pool shifts or floating between units/facilities
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Device training in CRRT, Impella, ECMO, IABP, or PA catheters is a plus but not required
  • BSN not required for this position

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across multiple hospital units as part of the float pool team
  • Participate in General Hospital Orientation (GHO) held weekly on Mondays
  • Complete unit orientation consisting of 2 shifts in the ICU plus Myles Modules and Cerner Validation class
  • Scrub color for this unit is Royal Blue
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the floating and ICU experience requirements
