Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Louisville, KY. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment specializing in intermediate and step-down cardiac care. We are looking for dedicated RNs who are passionate about providing exceptional patient care.

Unit Information:

• Beds: 16
• Minimum Years of Experience required: 1 year
• Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• Intermediate/Step Down Cardiac Unit specializing in post-op Coronary Bypass Graft, Valve surgery, Chest pain, Dysrhythmia with pre/post Pacemaker/AICD placement, pre/post Cath Lab, CHF

Patient Ratios:

• 1:5

Required License, National Certification, Certs:

• BLS, NIHSS
• ACLS preferred

Skills Required:

• Heart monitor interpretation
• Trach care
• Chest tube management
• PIV starts
• Phlebotomy
• Experience post-op heart surgery
• Drips: Primacor, amiodarone, dobutamine, heparin

Support within the Department:

• 2 PCA/CNA on Days, 1 on Nights
• 1 HUC on Days
• Charge RN - takes assignment

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Cerner
• IV Pump: Plum ICU Medical
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips
• Unit specific equipment: External pacers, pulse generators

Floating:

• Yes, could float within scope of practice and below.
• Typically notified about 1 hour prior to shift beginning (via Smart Square)

Orientation (facility and unit):

• Day 1 - New Employee Orientation
• Day 2 - Patient Experience and NVCI class
• Day 3 - Nursing Orientation
• Day 4 - Unit Orientation (day)
• Day 5 - Unit Orientation (night)

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
• On call? No
• Holiday Expectations: Based on unit needs
• Approval RTO: NM approval
