Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Adult) for a 13-week travel assignment at a 528-bed acute care teaching facility in Rochester, NY. The ED provides 24/7 emergency care for adult and geriatric patients across a wide range of emergency diagnoses, with a typical 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio.
Position Details
- Specialty: Emergency Room / Emergency Department – Adult
- Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Weekend: Every other weekend
- Holiday: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
- Charting: EPIC experience required
- Floating: Required within skillset
- First-time travelers: Accepted
- Call-offs: Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the contract without charges
- RTO/Block Scheduling: Must be submitted at time of application
- Locals: RNs within 75 miles are not accepted
Required Licensure & Certifications
- Active New York RN license required
- Pending NY license not accepted
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS — valid certification must be included with submission
Required Clinical Experience
- Adult & pediatric emergency care
- IV therapy, including:
- Starting/maintaining IVs
- Blood product administration
- Central line care
- Phlebotomy
- IV vasopressors
- CPAP/BiPAP
- Ventilator management
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
- CVA/stroke care
- Neuro-trauma, TBI & spinal cord injuries
- Gunshot wounds and orthopedic trauma
- Triage
- Isolation precautions
- Pediatric spinal cord injury
Unit & Facility
- Patient Population: Adults & geriatrics
- Typical Ratio: 1:5
- Equipment: Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, safe patient handling equipment
- Scrubs: Any combination of navy blue and white
