Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. This role involves caring for patients in a fast-paced environment, utilizing critical thinking and clinical knowledge to provide high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care to emergency room patients by following the nursing process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
• Demonstrate critical thinking skills and scientific judgment to ensure safe delivery of care.
• Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education and professional development.
• Delegate patient care priorities according to the education and experience of the available staff.
• Assess patient needs thoroughly and communicate findings effectively.
• Administer medications safely while monitoring for side effects.
• Document patient care accurately, demonstrating strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Adhere to safety standards, infection control protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC are mandatory.
• NRP and ENPC certifications are preferred.
• Willingness to float within the nursing scope and experience, especially to ICU units as necessary.

Work Environment

This position is based in a Level 3 Trauma Emergency Department with a patient ratio of 4:1. Full uniform and scrub attire of any color are required. The EMR system used is MedHost (EDIS).

Employment Considerations

• Flexibility with scheduling required; floating may be required based on departmental needs.
• Blackout dates for time off typically include one summer and one winter holiday, dependent on department needs.
