Trusted Talent is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Plattsburgh, New York.
Facility Location: Plattsburgh, NY
Total Facility Beds: 341
Unit: ECC / ER
Total Unit Beds: 29-bed ED, 4-bed Behavioral Health, 7-bed Fast Track – all convertible to ER beds
Trauma Level: Level 3
Clinical Experience Required: 1 year
Specialty Experience Required: 1 year
Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale
Nurse-Patient Ratio: Generally 1:5, may fluctuate with volume
Ancillary Staff:
- CNA/PCT: Varies throughout the day - Unit Clerk/Secretary: 1 per shift
- Crisis Clinicians: Available 7a-11p
Advanced Practice Providers: Typically 3, on a staggered schedule from 8a-11p
Orientation: 20 hours for short contracts, 24 hours for longer contracts
Dress Code: Navy Blue or White Scrubs, closed-toe shoes
Documentation System: EPIC – Experience with EPIC required
Medication System: Pyxis
Patient Population: Adult and pediatric Emergency Department, ages neonate to geriatric
Special Equipment: Phillips MP40, Alaris IV pumps
Respiratory Support: Available 24/7
Anesthesia Support: Available 24/7
Ventilator Management: Handled by Respiratory
Procedures and Protocols:
- Nurse manages drips prepared by 24/7 pharmacy staff
- Nurses and CA II train to perform straight sticks for labs
- Nurses initiate their own IVs, with additional day-time support
- Nurses perform EKGs, assisted by CA IIs as needed
- Nurses administer their own respiratory treatments
Additional Responsibilities:
- Care for boarded patients, psychiatric patients, COVID patients
- Rapid transfer of critical care patients to ICU when necessary
- Maintain communication device restrictions during work
Requirements:
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Charge experience preferred
- NY license required or proof of application
- EPIC experience within the past 2 years is mandatory
Additional Notes:
- Public transportation is not accessible, reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended
- Equip vehicles with all-season or snow tires during November to April
